University Hospital Carl Gustav in Dresden, Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology, Germany

We had the opportunity to become familiar with the capabilities of the C-Eye system in real-life conditions. Noteworthy is the fact that the system is being developed for several years, so it have been adapted to work with neurological patients with serious communication barriers. Due to an intui-tive and easy to use user interface the C-Eye can be successfully used in a hospital environment.

The C-Eye can effectively expand the use of existing assessment forms for cognitive functions of patients that have been deprived contact with the world and increase the efficiency of their evaluation. Especially, the follow-ing sections of Assessment Forms for Cognitive Rehabilitation (CRF) should be mentioned here:

  • Attention problems
  • Visual processing problems
  • Memory problems
  • Information processing problems
  • Executive functions problem

Furthermore, the C-Eye can be an effective tool for rehabilitation that al-lows to perform the following exercises dedicated for patients communi-cating by eyeballs movements, as well as engaged in Cognitive Stimula-tion Program at home:

  • Spatial/writing skills
  • Search and find
  • Recall of pictures and places
  • Recall of story material
  • Visual scanning
  • Language exercises
  • Categorization exercises
  • Reading comprehension
  • Time sense

The C-Eye has proper potential as a easy to use tool intended not only to alternative communication, but mainly for the rehabilitation of the brain via visual channel.

Opinion and recommendations for the C-Eye produced by AssisTech

The C-Eye system produced by AssisTech is being used at the Centrum Opieki i Rehabilitacji “Zdrowie” Plc. for the purpose of therapeutic sessions as part of the multisensory therapy with the C-Eye system. Patients benefit from the synergy of many therapeutic methods, used in accordance with current medical knowledge. The key methods are: multisensory environment, the C-Eye method, neurologopedic therapies, neuropsychological methods and neurophysiological rehabilitation.

As a result of observation it can be stated that systematically guided therapy in accordance with the developed methodology brings positive effects among patients in neurological diseases – especially in the rehabilitation after stroke, in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The C-Eye system is an indispensable tool to support the work of neurologopedist and psychologist and is a safe, non-invasive and reliable method to objectify the state of consciousness in patients after coma, after cranio – cerebrovascular injuries, vegetative states /minimal consciousness.

Prof. Józef Opara - Head of the Clinical Rehabilitation Department, Department of Physiotherapy of the Nervous System and Motor Organ, Faculty of Physiotherapy, Poland

People recovering from strokes, coma and other severe, neurological conditions suffer not only from pain but also from lack of neurological rehabilitation and possibility to communicate.

C-Eye is used in following areas (considering neurological impairments):

  • diagnosis of visual abilities & cognitive profile,
  • neurorehabilitation based on stimulation specific centres of brain,
  • communication.

There is a lack of appropriate diagnostic/therapeutic tools in the market, especially for neurological patients (n severe neurological state), immobilized, not communicating with the environment in a conventional manner.

C-Eye is a tool which gives opportunity to conduct therapy and rehabilitation with people with serious neurological disorders.

I hereby recommend using of C-Eye System in the field of brain therapy. This solution can improve results of therapy among patients with central nervous system damages and neurological disorders.

Therapeutic office of the C-Eye neurorehabilitation, hand therapy and alternative and supportive communication, Edyta Tyszkiewicz, Poland

Therapeutic office of the C-Eye neurorehabilitation; hand therapy and alternative and supportive communication is pleased to recommend AssisTech Sp. z o.o. with headquarters in: Gdańsk (80-172), Gdański Park Naukowo-Technologiczny, Trzy Lipy 3 street.

Cooperation began on 2017.03.01 and continues to the present because it is very positive.

As a part of the contract, the company provides: – sales and after-sales care (for the C-Eye Pro system), – technical support, – substantive consultations.

It is worth stressing that the products in AssisTech offer are extremely useful. The C-Eye Pro system at the disposal of the office contributed to a better quality of life for disabled people through neurorehabilitation and the introduction of a communication system. In the last two years, more than 150 people used this equipment in my office: children with disabilities; adults after car accidents and neurological events. The device allowed to successfully introduce several dozen of communication systems for different patients. Thanks to the awareness tests carried out, using the C-Eye Pro, the diagnosis of patients from the vegetative state (VS) to the minimally consciousness state (MCS) was changed in three cases. In one case, the locked-in syndrome was diagnosed, despite different medical diagnosis.

It is valuable that AssisTech goes beyond standard schemes and is based on innovation. They successfully dedicate their bold solutions precisely to their clients what undoubtedly stands out them in the business. You should appreciate the AssisTech’s effort to ensure that the services they offer have the best brand.

I do not find any reservations about The professionalism of the company. This is evident in the exceptionally high standard of cooperation. The company absolutely deserves trust. Honesty is a factor difficult to overlook, which affects the overall, high quality of service.

C-Eye device was sent to me after an unfortunate accident in which my fiancé suffered brain damage caused by hypoxia. At that time, he was staying at a neurological unit at New York-Presbyterian! Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan where I brought the equipment to test cooperation with my fiancé. He couldn’t talk or move so C-Eye gave us the ability to interact. His condition was critical so he never achieved fluent C-Eye communication, but the equipment gave us an opportunity to connect, as you can see in the video attached to this letter.

We continued this at the Cedar Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ossining, NY. C-Eye is very professionally constructed and easy to use. According to my personal experience with this device – it is suitable for both hospital/clinical and home use.

The only obstacle for me was the weight of the device during its transport between centers, but according to my knowledge, the purpose of the C-Eye system is stationary work in a center or home.

I am very grateful that I was able to use C-Eye and connect with a dear person who could not express himself in any other way.

Thank you.

DEAR BARTOSZI

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS AMAZING DEVICE THAT C-EYE IS. I CAN FINALLY SAY EVERYTHING, EVEN TO PEOPLE WHO SEE ME FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO TALK TO ME.

C-EYE HELPED ME TO COMMNICATE NOT ONLY WITH STRANGERS, BUT ALSO WITH MY FAMILY. I CAN GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE:

ONE DAY, WHEN I WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF MY C-EYE AND HAD NO INSPIRATION TO WRITE MY BOOK, I ASKED MY DADDY, WHAT HE WAS DOING? LET ME JUST MENTION THAT MY DAD WAS IN THE OTHER ROOM AND HE DID NOT SEE ME. HE REPLIED THAT HE WAS DRAWING! S01 ASKED AGAIN, WHAT HE WAS DRAWING?

OUR DIALOGUE LASTED A FEW MINUTES. FINALLY, I FOUND OUT MYSELF AND I SAID: “I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU NOTICED, BUT WE ARE TALKING TO EACH OTHER WITHOUT SEEING EACH OTHER.” THEN DADDY CAME TO ME, LAUGHED AND SAID I WAS RIGHT.

SO I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS DEVICE WAS CONSTRUCTED SPECIALLY FOR ME. I HOPE I WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE INTERNET EQUALLY WELL.

SEE YOU IN ŁOSICE!

G8Consultants, UK

We are a management consultancy company based in the UK, with offices in USA, Canada and UAE. We specialise in advising pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

In 2018 we have advised companies that can positively impact stroke patients. In the UK, there are over 100,000 strokes each year ( Stroke Association, UK). The number of strokes in the UK is predicted to rise by 44% in the next 20 years. With 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK, approximately one third have aphasia. The financial burden to UK tax payers is over 20 billion Euros.

We believe that AssisTech has very innovative and cutting-edge technology that can accelerate the rehabilitation of targeted stroke patients. The C-Eye is an innovative product, the only one that uses eye tracking technology in medicine as part of a comprehensive, integrated and professional approach. The need for quantitative measurement of level of consciousness is still unmet. Moreover, in case of non-communicating patients whose consciousness has been preserved, there are no effective therapeutic tools or methods existing on the market that could be used.

The C-Eye has a great potential in the UK market – both in terms of diagnostic applications (assessment of the state of consciousness), as well as rehabilitation (recovery process of patients after severe brain injuries).

With this letter, we confirm our interest in the C-Eye system as a device intended for diagnosis, therapy and communication with a non-communicative neurological patients. We are already in dialogue with several distributors for this product in the UK.

Rockmount, Canada

Rockmount Medical Solutions Inc. is a leading medical solutions company based in Toronto Canada, providing world class products to the global healthcare market. As a 100% Canadian owned company, we focus on providing only the most effective healthcare solutions for patients and medical institutions throughout Canada.

ROCKMOUNT researches medical device companies from around the world, selecting only those who meet key criteria, so that we can offer healthcare facilities with effective solutions to address important healthcare needs.

In Canada, our research indicates that the level of consciousness by non-communicative neurologic patients is currently determined by observing the patient’s behaviour in response to a gradually increasing stimulus. The drawback with this approach is that, in some cases, it will result in a false diagnosis. As such, the need for quantitative measurement of level of consciousness is still unmet.

The C-Eye® System product from AssisTech, uses the patient’s eyesight tracking technology to assess its state of consciousness and rehabilitation. Eye tracking is a sensor technology that enables a device to know exactly where your eyes are focused. It determines your presence, attention, focus, drowsiness, consciousness or other mental states.

This technology would provide an excellent solution for healthcare centres, including hospitals, care and treatment centres, hospices as well as doctors and therapists. Medical staff could assess the condition of people with neurological dysfunctions and developmental disorders, establish contact with them and start rehabilitation adjusted to their needs.

Rockmount Medical Solutions is interested in representing AssisTech and its’ C-Eye® System in Canada. It represents an innovative and needed technology that is intended for diagnosis, therapy and communication with non-communicative neurological patients.

rdg Kompagne, Netherlands

Roessingh Dienstengroep B.V., operating under its tradename rdgKompagne, is a leading company in the Netherlands in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technology. In addition, it offers innovative solutions for environmental control and computer access, and a growing portfolio of products for playing, learning, development, analysis and snoezelen.

Nowadays, level of consciousness by non-communicative neurologic patients is estimated by by observing the patient’s behaviour in response to a gradually increasing stimulus. Unfortunately, in some cases it brings a false diagnosis. The need for quantitative measurement of level of consciousness is still unmet. Therefore, the AssisTech product is definitely awaited to be commercially available.

With this letter, we confirm our interest in the C-Eye system as a device intended for diagnosis, therapy and communication with a non-communicative neurological patients.
